2024 Manager’s Conference: Growth of Our People

Welcome back! Growth of our people is critical to our success as a company. The more passionate, creative problem solvers we have on the front line, the more our staff will grow and the whole company grows as a result.

Conferences are a great chance for front-line leaders to step out of their comfort zone and challenge each other to think creatively, helping each other grow.

On the theme of “People First: What’s Important is You,” motivational speaker Denis Gianoutsos laid down a challenge to shop managers: What does (and does not) “People First” mean to you?

The results were as creative as they were surprising. Thoughts ranged from big-picture ideas to inspire more staff to become managers to detailed ways to empower new shop crew. The session demonstrated the breadth and clarity of thought our managers have – and their passion to lead their teams forward!

We now plan to post the A2 sheets with managers’ ideas on them around head office, reminding our office support staff of the ambitions our front-line leaders laid out, and the standards that head office must live up to!

Denis discusses some examples of what “People First” means to our managers

Speaking of expectations of head office, shop managers are always keen to hear what our specialist teams are working on. The Marketing, Property, Food Safety and area managers teams presented their vision and plans moving forward, sparking excitement about new shop opening and product plans. As our team grows in number, it’s critical that we each also grow in confidence and ability, carrying with us company values like People First and Doing the Right Thing Grows Trust. Growth of our people is, after all, the foundation of our success!

120 managers and head office staff attended the conference – here are just some of us!

See you all again soon!
