Message from Perry to all staff!

26th October 2021

Dear all St Pierre’s Associates

INTRODUCTION TO THE “7 STEPS TO PARTNERSHIP PLAN!”

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your extraordinary hard work during this very tricky period!

A special thanks to everyone in Auckland and Hamilton in Level 3, who are trading under a totally different – and much more difficult! – environment.

You have continued to make high sales even with only Uber, Contactless, and walk up! You are all amazing!

In fact, some of you are achieving sales levels even higher than before COVID – a truly remarkable achievement! This demonstrates the real power of commitment and teamwork.

In addition, a BIG THANK YOU TO ALL of you outside of Auckland of who have worked so hard to deliver a great customer experience in our stores as well as great quality products. You are definitely doing a great job making sure customers love our food and keep coming back !

We are all Partners in our Business!

7 STEPS TO PARTNERSHIP

At this point, I would just like to remind everybody that at St Pierre’s, we operate in a partnership system. The company succeeds when our people grow! So, one of the key aspects of our partnership system is to see you successfully make progress in your career!

When our shops are always so busy it’s easy to forget, but we have big opportunities at St Pierre’s for your personal growth! we’ve been working on ways to make those opportunities clearer and easier to access.

Recently, we have developed our “7 Steps to Partnership”  which lays out a clear plan of opportunity for all people working at St Pierre’s!

The 7 Steps to Partnership is simple. It begins level

1) Crew Member

2) Kitchen Trainer

3) Customer Service Trainer

4) Shift Supervisor (3IC)

5) Assistant Manager (2IC)

6) Store Manager (1IC), and finally

7) St Pierre’s Partner

This is a clear pathway enabling progress to Partnership. It shows what you need to do to move up one or more levels, and makes clear what the benefits are. Would you like to aim high and become a Manager too? Or would you just like to develop yourself further in the company.

Maybe you have already grown to the next level – and you (and your store team) just don’t know it! We want to make aiming high both attractive and achievable!

It’s the first time we have laid out a clear plan for all store associates. It’s a step-by-step process and each step will be supported by:

1) Additional training

2) Extra support, and of course

3) Pay rises

We want you to succeed, because your success helps everyone! There will be more information coming out soon!

So, what are your own goals?

Why don’t you take the opportunity to improve? The first step is to talk to your Store Manager – just tell them that you’d like to be involved in the plan. Then they will help you in your next career choice! What have you got to lose?

The opportunities are there for everyone – let’s go for it !

Let’s all keep improving and growing!

All the very best, and stay safe,

Perry

Napier Onekawa new store opening!

You might have heard that our new Napier Onekawa shop is open for business!
We’ve opened several new stores this year – but this one is quite different!

Onekawa opened on Thursday 23 September, delayed due to the COVID lockdown. In fact, COVID has meant that Onekawa marked many firsts for St. Pierre’s:

  • The first shop opened under COVID restrictions (in this case, Level 2)
  • The first shop ever opened without any of the company directors present!
  • The first time in a long time we didn’t do our famous sushi giveaway (as the COVID situation did not allow long queues)
Francisco and his team – all ready to go!

Store manager Francisco Tabaloc certainly had his work cut out. But he explains that

“Everyone pulled together wonderfully. We’re very fortunate that many of my staff transferred from Hastings and Napier Carlyle, so we had an experienced team in place. And Hiromi came from Hastings, Takashi from Carlyle and Yohanes from Rotorua to help with opening day. Having those three experienced managers here made a big difference!”

The brand-new shop, ready to welcome people in!

Even still, the opening was a huge job. Congratulations to Francisco and his team for a successful start! They really did have it tough. As well as none of the directors, there were no area managers present either, as they couldn’t travel out of Level 3 in Auckland (apparently there were some phone calls to AM Lili though!). Being able to open smoothly and deliver customer satisfaction from day one is testament to the talent and commitment of the St. Pierre’s family across our – now three! – Hawke’s Bay shops!

The team about to open the doors on day one!

Even among these three shops, Onekawa is quite different. Carlyle and Hastings are in more ‘downtown’ locations, whereas Onekawa is an industrial area. Apart from factories and warehouses, there is a big hardware store next door, a balanced catchment to drive business on both weekdays and weekends. We reckon that sushi will be a popular alternative to the pie shops and bakeries nearby. Onekawa also focuses on sushi, without the Bento Bowl offering, and trading is so far, so good. Francisco commented that

“Even though we did a soft launch without a big sushi giveaway, business has been very steady since opening day. The St. Pierre’s brand is clearly well established in the Hawke’s Bay thanks to the efforts of everyone at Carlyle and Hastings. I’m very happy and proud to be the manager of this new shop, and it’s more encouragement to me as I work toward becoming a store partner.”

Always plenty of stock for customers to choose from!

There’s certainly plenty to be proud of at Onekawa! Apart from the dedicated team, the interior blends the classic St. Pierre’s design elements like the yellow hut logo and some cool touches like angled wooden panelling about the POS, a funky geometric wooden design on the far wall, and big, retro red lightshades. All of these visual aspects draw customers in, and underline the passion and innovation in our food!

The attractive shop interior

So, if you’re staying in Napier for a few days, or just passing through, be sure to stop by and see Francisco and his team. And here’s to more interesting milestones across the St. Pierre’s Group!

All smiles at the shop’s success so far 🙂
