Pukekohe store opening!

CHECK THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY CHOPSTICKS WINNERS FROM LAST TIME! DETAILS AT THE END.

Hey everyone, welcome back! Here’s our last look back at our events of late 2024, ending with a bang. On Thursday 12 December, we opened a shop in Pukekohe!

Pukekohe is a satellite town to the south of Auckland. It has a long history as a rural service town known for horse racing and motor racing, and is now growing fast as part of greater Auckland. We’re proud to open on Edinburgh St, in the heart of the Pukekohe town centre, and really happy that so many locals turned out on opening day!

…including boxes and boxes of sushi to give away! Here’s new shop manager Michael checking that all is in readiness.

Michael commented that:

“We were thrilled and proud to bring St Pierres to Pukekohe. It was an incredible first day, with so many locals coming through the doors to show their support and try our food. The excitement from the community was amazing, and it was clear how much people happy having a St Pierres close to home.

I’m really proud of our team for all their hard work leading up to the opening — it was a great start, and we look forward to serving Pukekohe for many years to come.”

Back outside, the queue has stretched around the block!

Nick making his traditional speech to fire up the crowd

Director of Marketing Nick brought his trademark energy to the shop opening, saying that

Pukekohe and the Franklin area has long been an Auckland location that our customers have requested the most for a St Pierres. Pukekohe has now emerged into a bustling and booming little township. Sales have met our expectations, and we are thankful for the great support the shop has received from all the managers who helped with the grand opening and the Bento Bowl opening a short time later.

A special thank you to Manami-san, the area manager who organised the opening team, and Yasuko-san, who did the recruiting. We now have three stores in this part of South Auckland, being Karaka, Bombay and Pukekohe, all of which are building a great name for St Pierres in their respective local communities. And of course, a huge thank you to the customers who have so strongly supported the Pukekohe shop on day one and ever since.

Job done. Let’s go!

General Manager of Property Steve was very pleased with the opening, commenting that

“We’ve been looking for a great location in Pukekohe town centre for a long time, and finally found it. We’re also pleased to partner with the Chemist Warehouse on this site. They have been great to work with, and we hope this is a forerunner of an ongoing mutually beneficial relationship. Pukekohe really is thriving, and we look forward to meeting the needs of our customers and the broader community here.”

A bright and airy space big enough for the opening day crowds

Head of Marketing Chelsea came incognito to check out the festivities

After opening in Bombay and Karaka in recent years, we have developed a strong shop network in this vibrant and fast growing part of Auckland. However, each serves different customers. Bombay receives through traffic over the hills, and Karaka on motorway and east-west local traffic plus the growing nearby suburbs. By contrast, the Pukekohe shop is very much focused on the local Pukekohe community. We hope to bring a little extra colour to this already vibrant town centre!

A massive thanks to the Pukekohe shop team for their sterling work before, on and after opening day!
