A month has flown by since our new Ponsonby shop opened for business! 27 May was the big day, when shifted from the temporary store five or so doors down to the big, bright new location.
The staff have got the shop and running brilliantly. Led by sushi manager Ayessa and Bento Bowl manager Tee, and supported by area manager Yovina and bento manager Keiko, the crew had 500 free packs of sushi and mini bowls ready to hand out well before the 11.30 giveaway. Dozens of locals were out enjoying the sunny autumn weather and champing at the bit to enjoy their favourite taste!

The modern interior also highlights part of the heritage brick building façade, and features a long, sweeping wall with a concrete textured train line motif. Customers are welcomed by our bright sushi and Bento Bowl departments, with the train wall leading them further into the sophisticated yet expansive sushi train space at the back. It’s an atmosphere like none other in the St. Pierre’s Group – well done James, Cris, Foti and the fit out team!

This is a massive milestone for us – Ponsonby is our first three-format, standalone store! That’s right, Ponsonby includes not only our classic sushi department and Bento Bowl, but also our K10 premium sushi train. Ponsonby is the second K10 restaurant, with the first being inside the Westfield Newmarket mall, in the Eatery foodcourt area.
Ponsonby is a very stylish and fashionable part of Auckland, an inner suburb known as a trend-setting area. Our shop is at the north end of the long main road, Ponsonby Road, sharing a block with several homeware and design boutiques as well as nice bars. While there are many people who live and work in the area, it’s also an evening destination, and we think the K10 dining concept will fit right in.

So, if you’re visiting Auckland, or just passing through Ponsonby, be sure to stop by and check out our latest store concept. And here’s to more interesting milestones across the St. Pierre’s Group!
